To log onto the system first navigate in your browser to the main site, which can be found at www.medicineatotago.com

Log on to the system

Enter your username and password and click 'Login'. If you would like your username to be filled in automatically the next time you visit the site click the 'Remember Me' box after filling in your details and before logging in.
If you have forgotten your username you can also log on using the email address that you gave us when you registered instead.
If you have forgotten etiher your username or your password click the links shown to recover them. More information on this process (and a few warnings) can be found below.

Recovering your Username

Although you should be able to use your email address instead of a username if you forget it you may recover your username by clicking the link in the login box - which will take you to the screen shown above. Simply fill in your registered email address and click 'Submit' for the system to send you an email containing your username. Please note that your username should not be changed in any of the sub sites of our system even if you are offered the chance to do so. This is a limitation of the system as it currently stands and should be rectified shortly.

Recovering your Password

Clicking the 'Forgot your password' link on the login form takes you to this form. If you submit your registered email address you will be sent a link that you can use to change your password. It is very important to note that we are running two systems this semester and if you change your password on the MedicineAtOtago site (this site) you should drop Katherine a quick email with your new email address or password so that we can update your details on the server that provides our audio conferencing service (Oceanbrowser). Thanks!

After you have logged in

After you have logged in the main welcome page will re load, revealing more content only available to you as a registered user. You should have a look through the material posted here as we will update the site with important announcements and information. As is customary, new postings will appear at the top of the list. Click the 'Read more' link to see the full article.

Navigating to moodle, the forums and chat

You will also notice that after you have logged in there are more menu options available to you. Clicking on the appropriate links will take you to the Moodle Teaching Platform (where you will find you have been logged in and where you will find your course home page), the Forums (where you can become involved in discussions relevant to your course) and the Chat System, where you can participate in real time text chat either during teleconferences or at any other time. Please see subsequent guides for Moodle, the Forums and Chat.

When you have finished using the system you can navigate back to the main site and use the 'Logout' button to finish your session. This is particularly important if you are using a public computer. If you are using your own logging out is not strictly necessary and each part of the system will log you out after approximately one hour.
